A business litigator since 1991, Jay R. McDaniel is the founder of the McDaniel Law Firm, PC with offices in Hackensack, NJ and New York City. He represents companies and individuals in shareholder, partner and limited liability company disputes in the courts of New Jersey and New York. He practiced at Weil Gotshal & Manges in New York City and Porzio, Bromberg & Newman in Morristown, NJ before starting his current practice in 2005. He is a former print journalist who attended law school after a successful career at The Star-Ledger in Newark and The Daily Journal in Elizabeth.
Mr. McDaniel writes and lectures on limited liability company issues. His work has appeared in the National Law Journal, The New Jersey Law Journal and the The New York Law Journal. He has also written for the Practicing Law Institute and was a contributor to The Business Judgment Rule. His seven-lawyer firm also handles intellectual property litigation and he represents owners and former owners on post-breakup issues involving licensing, copyright, unfair competition and restrictive covenants.
